Places in Choa Chu Kang

Choa Chu Kang MRT station

It is a convenient as there is bus interchange right beside it. It is also located beside of Shopping mall, Lot 1, so it is easy for the residents or other people to shop and take public transport to the other place, which makes it easier for people.

Choa Chu Kang bus Interchange.

The bus interchange is located beside of the MRT station so it is easier for people to travel from one place to another. Though it looks small, it is fairly good as other interchange as it has bus to Orchard road and other popular location, which make convenient for residents and tourists to tour around the Singapore easily.

Lot One Shopping Mall

It is very close with MRT Station and bus interchange. It is also at the center of Choa Chu Kang, making popular place for residents to meet one another or shop. Though it's size is small, it has all the common stores that we can see in any other bigger malls.

Choa Chu Kang Park

It is a park where people come to do exercise and walk. It is rather quiet place and shelters with it so we can see some people simply enjoy their time in park under the shelters, sitting on a bench and relax.
There is also a restaurant which serves delicious Indonesian cuisine. The prices of dishes are also reasonable. It is a great place for family to have a dinner together and also, exercise together.

How name Choa Chu Kang was made

Choa Chu Kang is a major residential town and is in the West region of Singapore. Originally a kampong village, the area has been rapidly developed  into a modern township.  
The name "Choa Chu Kang" is originated from the Teochew word "kang chu". In the nineteenth century, Chinese immigrants to plant gambier and pepper along the river banks of Choa Chu Kang, although many migrated to Johor to the north at the encouragement of the Temanggong of Johor. The word "kang" means river and "chu" means "owner" or "lord", referring to the headman in charge of the plantations in the area. "Choa" is the clan name of the first headman.
